Camp Fire USA New Jersey is an all-inclusive 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a member, chartered in 1936, of the Camp Fire USA National organization. For over 100 years Camp Fire USA has been dedicated to creating a safer world for children and their families. Camp Fire New Jersey provides educational programs that empower children with lifetools to face everyday challenges and resist the threats of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, child abuse, violence and bullying. Our Council recognized the changing needs of the communities we serve and became one of the first statewide providers of valuable school-based child abuse prevention programs. We are proud to say our programs have become an integral part of the school year for 20,000 children in preschool through eighth grade, in over 800 classrooms, training staff and parents; in twelve counties throughout the state annually.
The New Jersey Council has developed evidence-based programs that address issues including substance abuse; violence; personal safety; peer pressure; truancy; bullying and cyberbullying; child abuse; assault; and neglect. All of our programs build upon one another and address the core concepts that are scientifically proven by Dr. Daniel Olweus. Our curriculums incorporate the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets, and follow NJ’s Core Curriculum Content Standards. Through our programs students develop improved self-image, coping skills, resiliency, and goal setting which positively impact all of the decisions and choices they make in their transition into adulthood. Each program is given in six weekly sessions, 30-60 minutes per session.
